Zumwalt Prairie, May 24 to 29, 2023

It’s a long way from anywhere, Zumwalt Prairie. It is in the far northeastern corner of the great state of Oregon. It took me 6 1/2 hours to drive from Portland to the cabin I was staying in at Summer Camp at Zumwalt Prairie. I was invited by The Nature Conservancy to photo the wildflowers and put together a brochure for them. I will be going back the last week in June again for more picture taking. There are too many flowers to include in this blog post/hiking post, but I will include some of my favorites that will also appear in the Wildflowers section of this website, so look for new additions there. The first full day I was there I was out exploring a back road and came across this black bear across a canyon from me. And the flowers are quite spectacular. If you haven’t been out that way, check it out sometime.
