Banff and Jasper National Parks, Aug 17 to 25, 2022

We drove all the way from Portland to Lake Louise in Banff National Park. The Canadian Rockies are a spectacular area and a must see!! Drive the 142 miles of the Icefields Parkway, in between mountains ranging from 9,000 feet to 11,000 feet; lakes, glaciers, rivers, forests and marshes and prairie. Absolutely the most amazing drive ever. We did three major hikes: from Lake Louise to Agnes Lake and it’s teahouse, then across to the teahouse at the Plain of Six Glaciers (11.5 miles), Wilcox Pass (5.7 miles) and Mt Edith Cavell (8.5 miles). All these trails started at the highway level and went up, up, uphill, some sections steeper than others, all ending in fantastic views of the Rockies and lakes and meadows. I hope a return trip is in order.
