Bird Creek Meadows, September 17, 2022
Bird Creek Meadows has been one of my favorite places to hike since I first learned about it in about 1985. It is on the Yakama Indian Reservation and the road to it is long and winding and rutted and potholed and not in great shape, ever. But the meadows are beautiful and filled with flowers in the spring, summer and into the fall. It has been closed since August of 2016 due to a fire very close to the meadows. It opened last year for a short time and again this year for only two months. We went up there and I was amazed that the meadows had grown back and there really wasn’t much fire damage in the meadow itself.
